10 Tricks to Get Someone to Smile for a Picture 27/06/11
It is only natural to want a person to smile when taking their picture. A smile makes everyone look better. Such photos just seem more appealing to most of us. The problem is not everyone is as prone to smiling, as much as we would like. When dealing with a person who doesn’t want to smile, it can be challenging to get the individual to curl the lips. If you have had this problem with someone, then you’ve probably come up with your own ideas on ways to improve the situation. In case you are in need of a few tips, here are 10 tricks to help you, the next time you have to take someone’s picture.
- Tell A Joke. Even if you are not the best joke teller in the world, that doesn’t mean you can’t share some story that will draw a smile. It takes a little thought at times, but a joke may be the very thing that produces a smile.
- Funny Faces. If you aren’t any good at telling jokes, simply making silly faces at the person in front of the camera will work to make them laugh.
- Offer A Gift. This isn’t a bribe. It can just be something like an offer for lunch, that says thank you in a small, but sincere way.
- Praise. Saying something nice about the person, or the individual’s appearance can often result in a smile. It just makes the person feel good, and when we feel good we tend to smile.
- Encouragement. Try to be optimistic about the photo. Don’t make up something unbelievable, but said in the right way, the thought of positive photo results can help create a smile.
- Remember A Funny Experience. Just share some moment when things seemed to work against your plans. Give it some humorous descriptions that add to the flavor.
- Make A Mistake. This doesn’t have to be slapstick in nature. Simply doing something that gives the person a reason to grin. We all enjoy seeing when someone reveals themselves as human, and not perfect.
- Smile Yourself. We are more likely to smile, if the other person also smiles. It is just a natural reaction. Stopping to look at them and smile can be enough to inspire the other person to do the same.
- Make Funny Noises. You might have to be careful to avoid being rude or offensive, but we all know how certain noises make us laugh.
- Tickles. This is more for little kids, particularly with an infant. Tickling them under the chin can get them to giggle very naturally.
Hopefully, the suggestions listed are of some help the next time you have to take a picture. Of course, if we can manage to relax and enjoy the event, it is more likely that the one who is posing will also.
